Belmont Center May Festival: It’s Magical at the Library
Charlotte, NC – May 8, 2008 – The Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County (PLCMC) presents the Eighth Annual Belmont Center Branch Library May Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 17.
Always a crowd pleaser, this year’s festival includes loads of activities for kids, books for sale at rock bottom prices, 1970s “old school” music and free food from Mert’s Heart and Soul. Also, WBAV’s Chirl Girl will make a special appearance. The theme: It’s Magical @ the Library features magician Fireball Freddie’s Magic Revue and much more.
The festival often showcases local authors with its “Authors Corner”. This year’s line up features four fiery women representing multiple genres. All authors will be available for book sales and book signing:
Alicia Williams, author of “Up from Rock Bottom”, a poignant work that is meant to encourage and strengthen.
Kimbali Allen, author of “A King…That Sounds Good to Me”, an inspirational book for kids.
Marina, author of “If I Decide to Fly!” a powerful collection of 40 poems that affirm, uplift and celebrate the African American man.
Festival favorite, Cheryl Mayfield Brown, author of "Cookin' to Keep Him", a tasty tome of culinary classics for spicy relationships.
Vasilisa Hamilton’s latest book, "Dakota’s Easter Wish" follows the popular tribute to her father, “Papa Didn’t Preach”
