Library's storytelling team presents series to share storytelling craft with the community
Charlotte, NC – June 5, 2008 – When you think of storytelling what probably comes to mind are memories of the kind-hearted librarians who lovingly read your favorite childhood books while you sat, captivated and cross-legged, in a semi-circle surrounded by other kids. The Frontline Storytellers Team, a group made up of Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County (PLCMC) staff and community members are interested in preserving and sharing this classic art. The group has been meeting since November 2007 to train and prepare. Approximately 25 members strong, the team created the Summer Tent Tales series in order to share their talents with the community and to introduce regionally known storytellers.
All from 8 to 80+ are encouraged to come out and enjoy. Those interested in learning the art of storytelling can contact Elisha Minter at (704) 336-2882. Each FREE storytelling event begins at 7 p.m.
