Interlibrary Loan: Requesting Materials
Check the Library Catalog first
Search the Library Catalog to determine if this library already owns the book you need. If you cannot find the material in our catalog then follow the directions below to submit a request through our Interlibrary Loan service.
Create an Interlibrary Loan Account
Prior to accessing Interlibrary Loan, you must create an account. Fill out the form on the New User Registration page. Be sure to fill in all of the required fields.
Search the WorldCat database
- Access WorldCat. (Link also available on Research/Homework page)
- If you are not in a library, you will need to enter your library card number.
- From the WorldCat search page, fill in one or more of the search boxes.

- Click on the Search button.
- Scroll through the results list.
- Click on the title of the item you want to request. If the title is listed multiple times, choose the one that has the highest number next to Libraries Worldwide.

- If you see our library’s symbol
, please check the Library Catalog again. This symbol indicates that our library owns the material or owned it at one time. If you are not able to find the title in our library’s catalog, proceed with your interlibrary loan request.

- Click on the yellow button or the Request Interlibrary Loan link.
Login to Interlibrary Loan System
- Type in your library card number and your four-digit PIN. Click on the Submit button.

- Most of the fields in the request form are filled in for you. Review the other fields and make any necessary changes.

- Click on the Agree to Terms and Submit Request button.
