As part of the library’s ongoing efforts to support early and family literacy, the popular Storytimes To Go kits are now available for all library users to borrow.
What are Storytimes To Go! kits?
Storytimes To Go! kits are themed early literacy kits that contain picture books, music, activities and other fun items like puppets or puzzles. All of the materials in a kit relate to a specific child-friendly theme. Everything you need for a fun reading experience is contained in a handy, easy-to-transport container.
Who may borrow the kits?
Anyone with a library card may borrow a kit. Kits check out for the standard loan period of three weeks.
How do I find a kit?
Visit the library’s Catalog. In the catalog search box, type Storytimes To Go and select keyword from the drop down box. Your search results will load in a new window and display all of the Storytimes To Go kit themes. From there you can log in with your library card number to place a kit on reserve. PLCMC staff can also help you find and reserve kits and materials.
Where do I pick up a kit?
Kits may be picked up at any of our 24 locations. When you make a request you will be able to indicate your preferred location. You will receive an automatic telephone or email notification when the kit arrives at the location for pick up.
How will I know what belongs inside a kit?
Every kit has a contents list taped to the inside of the lid. Every item in the kit is numbered on the list. The number corresponds with a label on the back of each book, CD or other item. This will make it easy to quickly check the contents before returning a kit. (Puppets have STG written on the sewn in label.)
What can I do with a kit?
Have a story time, share a book with a child, read with your friends, present a classroom activity...the possibilities are endless!
