The Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County began purely as a place where the public could borrow books for free. But as our world is transformed by new technologies and new ways for people to connect, we have an unprecedented opportunity to transform our services to meet the changing needs in our community.
Libraries have become much more than places to find information, though we still serve that important purpose. We are also twenty-first century gathering places, portals for access to technology, and advocates for literacy and lifelong learning. And despite the changes, we also remain a place for everyone whose first love is books.
