Videocassette Borrowing Policies


  1. Although anyone may place reserves on videos, borrowers under age 18 must have parental permission on file to check out a video.
  2. All patrons must possess a valid Library card to check out a video.
  3. Check-out period for fiction videos is three days and for n. on-fiction videos is two weeks.
  4. Videos may be renewed if there are no reserves on the item.
  5. Patrons may place reserves on video titles. Ask for assistance in placing holds on multi-part sets. Staff will try to deliver parts in order.
  6. The fine for overdue videocassettes is $1.00 per day, to a maximum of $10.00.
  7. Keep videocassettes in a cool, dry place, and avoid storage in direct sunlight, in hot cars or near sources of heat.
  8. Please rewind videocassettes before returning.
  9. The patron is responsible for returning videocassettes in good condition. In case of loss, theft or damage, he/she will be charged the full replacement cost of videocassette.
  10. The Library assumes no responsibility of damage caused to a borrower's videocassette recorder by a Library videocassette.
  11. The video collection of the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County is for home use only, unless labeled for other use. Public Library videocassettes are loaned with the understanding that admission fees will not be charged when they are shown.
