DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County is a dynamic customer-focused organization. The Chief Innovation Officer provides a collaborative style of organizational leadership with other members of the Research, Innovation and Strategy Team. As a member of this team, this individual will play a key role in identifying leading-edge innovations to ensure success on the library's comprehensive vision and strategies. In addition, this individual will be an advocate for the library in both the public sphere and library communities regionally, nationally, and potentially internationally.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Economics, Management and Information Science, or related field from an accredited college or university required. Graduate degree in Business Administration, Library Science, Public Administration, Marketing or other related fields preferred. 5-7 years of leadership experience in managing one or more major innovation processes with evidence of progressive responsibility and interdisciplinary approaches to problem solving and decision-making. Incumbent will be responsible for identifying and driving the pursuit of new revenues, users, technologies, and services, whether from new or under served populations, new or enhanced products/services, or new ways of working and using technology. This position facilitates the implementation of strategic library service and technology plans, as well as the allocation and management of funds and staff. Also responsible for overseeing the data collection and analysis that documents the library's alignment with Mecklenburg County as well as the library's own strategic outcomes.

POSITION TITLE: Librarian (Children's)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Incumbent is responsible for assisting the public with informational and reader’s advisory queries, for creating opportunities for education and enrichment both in the Library’s facilities and out in the community, and for furthering the Library’s mission and vision through creative approaches to public service. Responsibilities will evolve constantly but can generally be expected to include reference and reader’s advisory service in and out of the Library, programming, public technology classes, outreach, weeding, staff training, system projects, and leadership in the Library and in the community. Must work cooperatively with the Youth Services Department on special projects, serves on committees and teams at the branch and systemwide.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MLS from ALA accredited program with emphasis in children's literature. NC Public Librarian Certification. Successful applicants will possess a comprehensive knowledge of books and literature, strong computer skills, the ability to quickly learn new technologies with or without formal training, leadership skills, the ability to confidently speak in public and to represent the Library in a variety of settings, intellectual curiosity, initiative, and the ability to work as part of a team. POSITION TITLE: Librarian (Teen)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: As part of the ImaginOn Teen Services Team, the Teen Librarian will help oversee the Loft at ImaginOn, a specially-designed area for teens within ImaginOn that includes books and graphic novels, multimedia, PCs and wireless access, an animation studio, and traditional and non-traditional programming. He or she will be responsible for a variety of professional job tasks including helping maintain the Loft's library materials and resources for teens and providing young people ages 12-18 with information, electronic resources, and recommendations for their reading, listening and viewing enjoyment. He or she will also be responsible for designing and implementing age-appropriate, high-interest programs and outreach to and for teens throughout Mecklenburg County. Additionally, he or she will help ImaginOn's Teen Services Manager with ImaginOn-specific and/or systemwide teen initiatives and serve as a leader and mentor for other teen serving staff in the system. ImaginOn's Teen Specialist will also serve as a team leader on two or more PLCMC Teen Teams which may develop teen programming, special teen events, support teen services as a whole, or somehow meet other library needs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MLS from ALA-accredited institution; eligible for NC Public Librarian Certification; experience working with teens; public library experience. A genuine interest in teens and in the issues that affect their lives and welfare; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with a diverse public; ability to plan age-appropriate and interesting activities for teens; creativity and a willingness to try new things; knowledge of literature, film, music and technology of interest to teens; high comfort level utilizing PCs and other technology; ability to work effectively in a team environment; solid organizational skills; flexibility. The Loft at ImaginOn is a flagship program for teen services for all 24 library locations in the Charlotte Library system. Therefore, the Loft's YA Librarian needs to be innovative, able to lead and inspire, dedicated to the profession, and willing to think outside the box.

ImaginOn is an innovative joint use facility and programmatic partnership of PLCMC and the Children's Theatre of Charlotte with the mission of "bringing stories to life" for youth ages 0-18 (www. imaginon.org).

JOB REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma/GED required. Some college and/or former library experience desirable. Ability to provide excellent customer service in a busy youth-centered facility serving visitors of diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Basic computer competency in a Windows environment, the ability to learn the library's automated circulation system and explain its use to borrowers of all ages. Superior oral, written and alpha/numeric skills. Flexibility in meeting scheduling needs. Familiarity with books/authors and library routines helpful. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Freedom Regional Library seeks a seasoned, enthusiastic and service oriented librarian who has the experience to manage and deliver informational services to adults, young adults and children in a busy regional setting that also serves a Technical High School, teaches and students in grades nine through twelve. Experience working with young adults is strongly preferred. Includes overall responsibility for the facility and its services under the direction of a Senior Library Manager; serves as liaison to high school administration and school media team. Coordinates Unified Services within the branch, while supervising the Information Services Staff in all facets of their employment including hiring, training, scheduling, assigning tasks, and performance management. Develops, maintains, and provides access to library collections including print materials, audio-visual materials, computer hardware and software and online resources. Ensures that staff provides competent and courteous Reference and Readers Advisory service and entertaining and educational programming for library customers in an effort to promote lifelong learning and personal and community growth. Performs outreach to promote library services in the community; works collaboratively with other nonprofits and stakeholders to tailor library services for meeting community needs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MLS from an ALA accredited program and North Carolina Public Library Certification. Five years of professional level public library experience, including three years of supervisory experience and a thorough knowledge of all aspects of public library operations. Ability and enthusiasm toward developing a shared vision with the Senior Library Manager regarding the full range of library services in a joint school partnership with a technology high school. Significant experience with Reference/Information Services particularly in leading new services initiatives. Strong knowledge of current personnel management principles and trends. Ability to manage diverse group of employee, including other managers and other professional staff. Strong commitment to proactive service excellence. Good judgment/experience in collection management. Public relations capability; ability to reach out to geographic area to spread the mission and vision message of the Library.

Manages the provision of information, readers advisory, and programming services for library users of all ages. Performs additional duties as assigned such as participation on teams and special projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution required. 5+ years of library management experience with evidence of progressive responsibility and interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving and decision-making. POSITION TITLE: Maintenance & Operations Supervisor

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Facilities maintenance supervisor has a primary responsibility for the appearance and condition of 24 public library facilities with a total staff of nine. Duties include staff supervision, preventative maintenance, supervision of janitorial and maintenance contracts, and routine maintenance tasks. It also has the responsibility for reviewing plans and specifications for new facilities, planning and executing special projects, and maintenance budget preparation and management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a minimum of five years experience in building maintenance and five years of supervisory experience. It requires knowledge and experience in HVAC-R, Plumbing, Mechanical and Building Management. This position also requires knowledge and experience with facility regulations and safety standards(OSHA,EPA,ADA). This position requires a North Carolina Electrical License - Limited or higher. It requires a valid drivers license and the ability to qualify for a Mecklenburg County driver's permit. It requires excellent verbal and written communications skills and proficiency with office and facility maintenance software.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:30pm. Occasional night and weekend work. On cal for emergency service 24-7.
