Good Morning, Chick
Mirra Ginsburg (1980) , under 40 pages
Illustrated by Byron Barton
Audience: Toddlers, Preschool
Category: Adventure, Read Aloud (This book has outstanding illustrations)
|
A newly born chick explores the
farmyard, first with his mother,
Speckled Hen, and then on his own. He
encounters a hissing black cat, a
crowing rooster, and then a laughing
frog when he falls into a pond.
Who will warm the wet chick? His
mother, of course. Barton’s images
with their bold, bright colors are a
treat for young eyes and compliment
Ginsburg’s adventure story perfectly.
Young “chicks” everywhere will enjoy
this tale adapted from a story by
Korney Chukovsky.
