Book cover Tornado
Betsy Byars (1996) , 40-80 pages
Illustrated by Doron Ben-Ami
Audience: Primary (k-3rd grade)
Category: Beg. Chapter Books, Humor, Realistic Fiction

As a tornado thrashes above, a family hides in a storm cellar and listens to the stories of a farmhand named Pete. Pete tells them about a dog that was blown into his life by a tornado. Appropriately named Tornado, the dog finds himself in humorous situations, such as drinking up a turtle and playing card tricks. Ben-Ami’s realistic pencil drawings help bring this warm story to life. A great beginner chapter book about a boy and his dog.

This is good book. My teacher read it aloud to my class. I think it is funny that the dog can do card tricks!
