Can you roar your terrible roar and
gnash your terrible teeth like a wild
thing? Of course you can because there
is a wild thing in all of us, and we
can see ourselves in Max, the main
character in Sendak's book as he runs
away from home to join the wild
rumpus. This imaginative journey into
the jungle of Max's imagination won the
1964 Caldecott Medal and has remained
one of the best loved bedtime stories
ever since.
