Internet Safety for Youth


The Internet is such a positive source for learning and communicating in children’s lives. Just as there are safety tips when you are at the playground, swimming, or riding your bike there are ways to help you surf safely on the Internet. Click on some of the following links to find safety games and tips to learn about protecting your privacy and security online. Not only are they fun but they will teach you about responsible Internet use.

Internet Keep Safe Coalition
D.A.R.E. America and Internet Keep Safe have teamed up to create 14 simple activities that teach important safety Internet principles to children 4-10 years.

Internet Safety
A short quiz developed by the Chicago Public Library that guides young children on safety when using the Internet.

Just for Kidz
A “kidz” section from the Federal Trade Commission website suggests some important information to know about websites before sharing private and personal information.

NetSmartz
An interactive educational safety resource from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Boys and Girls Club of America for children aged 5 to 17. Through creative, age-appropriate and 3-D activities, teaches children how to stay safer on the Internet.

Online Safety Quiz
An online safety quiz is a chance for kids to show they know how to be a safe Internet surfer.
