Novello Festival Press
  • Announcing a new publishing opportunity: Partnership seeks submissions of literary short fiction and poetry (8/25/2008)
Two creative Charlotte entities are joining forces to publish works of literary fiction and poetry from regional authors.

Novello Festival Press (NFP) and Charlotte Viewpoint (CV) are collaborating on the project. Authors are invited to submit their work for initial publication in Charlotte Viewpoint’s online magazine and community forum. NFP/CV will make selections from those published pieces for an upcoming anthology.

“Partnering with Charlotte ViewPoint gives us a unique and powerful tool to reach an ever-expanding audience of readers,” said Amy Rogers, publisher of NFP.

“We’re excited to partner with Novello Festival Press to highlight the exceptional literary talent of the region,” said Mark Peres, president and editor of Charlotte ViewPoint. “NFP is a prestigious imprint. Our objective is to recognize established talent and to elevate emerging new voices – and to further arts and culture in the region.”

Current participants in the project include 2005 Novello Literary Award winner Doris Iarovici, Robert Penn Warren Prize winner Gilbert Allen, Kurt Vonnegut Fiction Prize winner Aimee Parkison, and 2008 Sam Ragan Fine Arts Award for Literature winner Charles Blackburn, Jr.

    Guidelines are below:

    • You must be 18 or over.
    • Your submission must be an original work of literary fiction.
    • You may send no more than two submissions, no more than 3000 words each.
    • We welcome submissions from previously unpublished writers.
    • Send a cover sheet with your name, address, email address, phone number, and one paragraph about yourself. Indicate if the work has been published before; if so, where and when.
    • You must grant permission for CV/NFP to edit your piece and print your name and hometown.
    • There is no submission fee and no compensation for use.
    • Selections for inclusion in any future anthology are at the discretion of CV/NFP; those authors invited to participate will be contacted individually.
    • The submission period is open-ended.
    • Send submissions electronically, in Word format, to: editor@charlotteviewpoint.org
