Speaker Information:
Stephen Abram is a leading international librarian and lighthouse thinker in the North American library community. As Vice President of Innovation for SirsiDynix, he leverages his extensive experience in library technology and trend forecasting, new product conceptualization and market development to ensure that SirsiDynix products and services continue to be the most innovative in the library market. With over 25 years experience, Stephen is a frequent keynote speaker on issues that affect libraries, their communities and librarians. He is the former president of the Canadian Library Association, the 2003 award recipient of SLA's highest honor, the John Cotton Dana Award and in 2002 Library Journal named him as one of the key people who are influencing the future of libraries and librarianship. ALA recently published a collection of his prolific writings titled Out Front with Stephen Abram: A Guide for Information Leaders.
Lori Bell is Director of Innovation at the Alliance Library System in East Peoria, Illinois, a multi-type library system with approximately 260 member libraries of all types. In addition to grant writing, Lori coordinates special projects such as Second Life's Info Island. Lori received her M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois and an advanced certificate in distance learning from Western Illinois University. She has held a variety of library positions in different settings including children's librarian, adult services librarian, technology coordinator, director of a library for the blind, and hospital librarian. Her interests involve working with new technologies to see what applications they might have for libraries.
