He's engaged in a dueling match between a personal life crisis and his professional life that rages throughout the chapters. The Mastermind torments Cross with each crime he commits. Hostages are taken and shot for no reason other than to leave behind a scene of carnage for the police to find. Victims are chosen for reasons of revenge known only to the Mastermind. Finally, he makes his game a much more personal one for Cross and his new partner, Betsey Cavalierre. The ending of this Patterson novel leaves you stunned, asking questions, and anticipating the next Alex Cross installment.

Excellent. The story is fast-paced and has an impending sense of doom. It details the personal side of Alex Cross. Plus, it shows how much stress the police officers and their families experience.

Female Intelligence
Dr. Lynn Wyman is really serious about her “Wyman Method” that teaches men to communicate with women. She teaches them to relate to women on all kinds of levels from saying, “how was your day” and really meaning it to asking for directions. The day that someone leaks a story to the press about her own unhappy marriage, she begins to lose everything, clients, book deals and her radio show. Determined to get back on her feet she takes desperate measures, to find the perfect high profile client and to discover who sabotaged her perfect life. Jane Heller has written an entertaining book, tongue-in-cheek, with all the political correctness you could ever want.

Nanny Diaries
If you've ever fantasized about living the glamorous life of a chauffeured, pampered Manhattan socialite, read this book. The privileged status is not as effortless as it appears to outsiders. To make ends meet, Nanny, a young woman trying to graduate from NYU, accepts caregiver responsibilities for four-year-old Greyer X. A tale of true insanity follows. Mrs. X is a control freak, does no work of any kind and has no patience, time or apparent love for her only son. Mr. X works furiously and endlessly when not busy with an extra marital affair. Nanny manages to hang on by clinging to her integrity, her real affection for her charge and her well-developed sense of humor. This novel, packed with laughs offset by poignant satirical moments, is great entertainment!

Charmed and Dangerous
Sure, being a witch sounds like it would be wonderful, and for the most part it is, but there are days when you just can’t conjure up everything you need. Bronwyn seems to be having one of those days (weeks, months?). She loves her job, the new house she just recently moved to, and seems to have men falling all over her. Just one small problem, she has never had any luck with love and can’t seem to trust herself in that department, especially when her new client won’t take no for an answer. As Bronwyn records her exciting life as bodyguard to the British Prime Minister in her journal, we glimpse various uses of power and the risks she’s willing to take for love.

Kinsella, Sophie(2001) Confessions of a Shopaholic
"There's a thrill about walking into a shop-any shop-which you can't beat. It's partly the anticipation, partly the buzzy, welcoming atmosphere, partly just the lovely newness of everything"(p. 73). Becky Bloomwood loves to shop! She has fabulous designer clothes, a great social life, and a trendy apartment in London. The only problem -- she can't afford any of it! The more Becky tries to monitor her spending, the more trouble she gets into. Find out how things get more complicated when Becky, a financial journalist, writes a scandalous article that puts her head to head with millionaire entrepreneur, Luke Brandon. This book is light, funny, and cute! It's the first book in the Shopaholic series.

Sparks, Nicholas(2008) The Lucky One
This is a great story told by my favorite storyteller, Nicholas Sparks.
Logan Thibault, in his third tour of Iraq with the U.S. Marines, finds a
photograph buried in the Iraqi desert of a young woman. He doesn't think
too much of it until a fellow marine suggests it may be the photograph
that helped him survive 11 different attacks in Iraq. After he returns
home, he sets out on a cross country journey to find the woman in the
photograph, believing that somehow she may hold the key to his destiny.
This story is filled with romance and suspense, and a surprise ending that
I think any Nicholas Sparks fan will enjoy.
