Politics in Prose Political language...is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind. When George Orwell wrote those words in the mid-1940s, he had in mind the politicians living in his own era. One wonders though, if Orwell's statement was prescient. The following list includes works by historians, reporters, pundits, talking heads and, even, conspiracy theorists. They represent many shades of the political spectrum.

Here is an excerpt of U.S. Senator, Joseph I. Lieberman's, review of Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis:
Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, by Michael Lewis, is a very good book. I am a lifelong baseball fan, and Moneyball relates how Billy Beane, general manager of the Oakland A's, built a winning team on one of the smallest budgets in Major League Baseball. I hope your readers enjoy this book, as I did.

This month Reader’s Club honors Jennifer who works at Cornelius Library. Jennifer is an enthusiastic reader who has reviewed books for both adults and teens. Here is what she has to say about reading and writing reviews:
Growing up, my family and I moved around quite often. The one thing that I could keep that was my own, the one thing that I could take with me as I explored new and exciting adventures in my life was reading. Whether it was traveling River Heights with Nancy Drew assisting in solving a mystery or piloting the Millennium Falcon with Han Solo to escape the Imperial Army, I could always jump into another place and time whenever I wanted to.
These days my reading still consists of science fiction, but I have recently been introduced to an author I have absolutely fallen in love with. With the introduction of the world of Damar in the Newbery Award winner The Hero and the Crown, author Robin McKinley came into my life. From a female dragon slayer who saves her kingdom to a retelling of the classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast in Beauty, McKinley has brought a level of fantastical adventures into the everyday common life of her readers.
