Susan C. is an avid reader and Reader's Club reviewer. We'll let her speak for herself about her love of books: "It was third or fourth grade when I discovered The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Immediately, I became a full fledged, juvenile bilbliophile and I haven't gotten over it yet. The very idea that an undiscovered, magical world exists just waiting to be revealed is exactly the reason I read. There are so many secret gardens of blissful escape to read and explore."
"I enjoy a wide variety of fiction with an occasional foray into the real world via non-fiction. My favorites would include Southern writers like Kaye Gibbons, Ferrol Sams, and Lee Smith. I love being captivated by a "cannot put it down" mystery or thriller from Harlan Coben, Lee Child, Dan Brown or yikes it's so hard to choose just a few. Historical fiction is another favorite way to transport myself to a kinder, gentler place. If you haven't read Elizabeth's Peter's "Amelia Peabody Series" or Laurie King's "Mary Russell Series", then I cannot imagine how you sleep at night. My all time favorite non-fiction would have to include Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life and Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith. Both of these books have helped me laugh despite some of the inevitable bumps we all encounter on our life's journey."
"Writing reviews for Reader's Club is the absolute best part of my job. It gives me an opportunity to share the joy of discovering a great book or a new author." Thanks Susan!
