This month Reader's Club spotlights Sarah from Independence Regional Library. Sarah has been a frequent contributor of reviews for both adults and teens. Here are Sarah's thoughts on reading and reviewing books for Reader's Club:
"I like to read mysteries, Southern fiction, literary fiction, young adult fiction, true crime, and personal narratives. My favorite authors include Meg Cabot, James Herriot, Barbara Kingsolver, Michael Malone, Robert B. Parker, Anne Tyler, Cynthia Voigt, Beverly Cleary, and many more.
I read a variety of books. If a book has a great sense of place, strong characters, or an action-packed plot, I will review it. Also, I will pick a book to review if it is particularly clever or humorous. I have to figure out why I liked a book and be able to explain why I liked a book in order to write a review for it.
People are always looking for something good to read. I enjoy sharing my discoveries with other people. Some of the best books I read are by authors who have only published a few titles. I hope that by reviewing titles by these authors, I can highlight a gem and encourage people to try something that may not be on the New York Times Bestseller List."
Thanks Sarah!
