Lori from University City Regional Library is our August Reviewer of the Month. She is an Automation Support Coordinator. She teaches computer classes and troubleshoots computer problems. Lori has contributed a variety of fiction and non-fiction reviews for adults. Here is what Lori has to share with us:
One of my fondest childhood memories is of my Mom taking me to the
library. The library was in an old, coquina building on a one-way
street. It had 3 floors and the shelves seemed to be filled to the
ceiling with books down narrow aisles. It seemed like a magical place.
I remember getting my first library card and discovering that the real
magic was in the books! Each book would transport me to a new place.
To me a book is great if it is descriptive and engaging enough to
make you feel as if you are really there. I have mostly read fantasy
and science fiction but am open to reading just about anything. I
absolutely love the Harry Potter series and can’t wait to share it with
my son when he is older. A few of my favorite authors are Marion Zimmer
Bradley, Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, and Anne Rice.
I also read a lot of non-fiction books too and have enjoyed reviewing
those for Reader’s Club. I usually review non-fiction books that I
think can provide quality or helpful information to someone else. I
only review fiction titles that I think are really outstanding and that
I would personally recommend to friends and family. One of the most
rewarding parts of writing reviews is seeing the comments that our
readers add to the reviews - and having an excuse to read more books!
Thanks Lori!
