"My reading interests have always leaned towards non-fiction, biographies and some historical fiction. Even as kid I can recall scouring the stacks for stories that were based upon real people and events whenever my family would visit the local library weekly and I was forever flipping through my father's reading selections, which were mostly biographies as well, to scan the black and white pictures and learn more about people. A few titles that stick out in my memory as favorites are The Diary of Anne Frank and Sounder.
As an adult, this hasn't changed. I still love to read biographies and historical non-fiction and learn more about amazing individuals and events that have shaped our culture and lives. Of my recent reviews, these titles are among my favorites; Fatal North: Adventure and Survival aboard USS Polaris, the First U.S. Expedition to the North Pole and Bold Spirit: Helga Estby's Forgotten Walk Across Victorian America. When I discover books like these that unravel long forgotten but gripping adventures I can't put them down. For me it's true "life is much more fascinating than fiction."
