Reviewer Spotlight
Name: Sherry
Branch: Sugar Creek Branch
We spotlight Sherry, a librarian at Sugar Creek Branch Library, who is also a member of the Reader’s Club Team. She is a voracious reader and prolific reviewer of fiction for adults and teens. Here is what she has to share with us:
“Introduced to reading at an early age by my mom, I have been passionate about it ever since. Most summer days you would find me on our front porch swing reading Nancy Drew, Cherry Ames or Trixie Belden, books that I borrowed from my mom’s stash in the attic. Now I curl up on my couch and read mostly romantic mystery novels by such various authors as Sandra Brown, Linda Howard, J.A. Jance, Elizabeth Lowell and Nora Roberts.
I am open to reading anything if I am told about it, that’s why these reviews are so important. If someone else has enjoyed a book, than there must be something that I can gain from it. That is how I stumbled upon David Morrell, a suspense writer that I normally wouldn’t have read. Told about him by a friend, I tried out his book Creepers and now I am an avid fan and reviewer of his books.
Writing reviews is enjoyable to me because it gives me a chance to tell more people about great books. Recently, when I am reading, I notice that I am thinking of good angles for writing the review. A funny or dramatic moment that might hook a reader helps me focus and gives me a jumping off point when writing the review. ``
Thanks Sherry!
