Bookweb
The American Booksellers Association represents independent bookstores nationwide. The ABA web site has Book Sense Picks, which are monthly reading recommendations from independent bookstores. It also provides lists of books to be reviewed in national newspapers and on radio and television
Complete Review
Avid readers no longer have to weed through a myriad of web pages only to find that the review they want requires registration or costs a fee to read. Reviewsofbooks.com searches the web for book reviews of new titles and gathers them together in one site.
Good Reads
You can keep track of what you have read and what you want to read next using www.goodreads.com. All you need to do is create a username and password. You can also share your reading selections with friends and get book recommendations from them.

Nancy Pearl’s Web Site
Nancy Pearl, author of Book Lust and More Book Lust, is known for her book reviews on National Public Radio. . Now you can go to her web site and read new reviews each week.
New York Times
The New York Times Books section offers featured reviews from the paper and from the New York Times Book Review magazine. It also gives you access to their bestseller lists, columns by their knowledgeable staff, essays on reading and writing, very active forums and a monthly book discussion group.

Christchurch City Libraries
There is an extensive list of The Best of British Detective Stories, but the reading suggestions on the Christchurch City Libraries (New Zealand) website are much broader. There are book reviews, literary magazines and awards, and suggestions for new music.
Fantastic Fiction
This British site spotlights science fiction, fantasy and horror authors. It has author bibliographies, science fiction and fantasy award winners, new releases, and links to author websites.
Mostly Fiction
Mostly Fiction includes reviews of new and old books in various categories, book excerpts, book lists, author interviews, and lists of books in series.
Readwest
This website dedicated to westerns offers rated book reviews (5 spurs=outstanding, 3spurs=not bad), author info with links to their websites, movie info, news from the world of western literature, awards, and a list of forthcoming titles.
Romance Writers of America
The Romance Writers of America is a professional association whose goal is to promote the reading and writing of the romance novel. The RWA offers the reader suggestions and links to the best-selling authors and award-winning novels. Many of the members have direct links to their homepages.
Steven Saylor Web Site
Steven Saylor is the author of the Roma Sub Rosa series of mysteries set in the world of ancient Rome. Saylor is also a scholar of ancient history. The section called “Steven’s Bookshop” has wonderful reviews of books, videos and DVDs about the ancient world. Both fiction and nonfiction works are included.
Stop, You’re Killing Me!
The web site offers chronological book lists of authors who write “mystery, suspense, and intrigue” books and are published in the United States. It also lists non-series books. Readers can search by character or author.
The SF Site
Updated twice a month The SF Site is a great way for Science Fiction and Fantasy fans to keep up with new releases.
What’s Next?
This website provides bibliographies of books that are in a series. Kent District Library has created a database that allows you to search by author, book title, or series title.

Comics Worth Reading
This is a great website to read reviews of comics and graphic novels or to see previews of new comics. The reviews are divided into sub-genres of comics like Manga, DC Comics and Marvel Comics. There is also a list of recommended comics and soon-to-be-released titles.
No Flying No Tights
This site provides reviews of graphic novels, divided into three broad sections: the original “No Flying No Tights” for teens, “Sidekicks” for kids, and “The Lair,” which features graphic novels that appeal to teens but are more appropriate for adults.

Teens Only
This is the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's web site for Teens Only. In addition to links to other great web sites discussing a wide range of topics; this site's forte is its collection of booklists ranging from poetry to survival books.

Academy of American Poets
This site has a collection of over 500 poet biographies, 1400 poems and 100 audio clips of poetry.
Center for the Book: Library of Congress
The Center for the Book was established in 1977 to use the resources and prestige of the Library of Congress to promote books, reading, libraries, and literacy. There are affiliated Centers for the Book in all 50 states and The District of Columbia. Each state's center offers book or literacy-related programming and other activities such as story-telling festivals, author appearances, collections of books available for use by bookclubs, student essay contests, special events for seniors, and more.
DNA of Literature
Assembled by the Paris Review this website is an archive of the journal's famous interviews with world authors. They plan to eventually have all of their author interviews available free of charge. Currently available are interviews from the 50's, 60's and 70's.
Eclectica Magazine
This quarterly online journal attempts to bring together the best writing on the web and is a great mix of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Along with new issues, the site also archives nearly fifty back issues.
Identity Theory
This online journal has insightful, in-depth author interviews. It also contains original fiction and nonfiction, excerpts from forthcoming books, and reviews. The review section of the website, called Book Rate, provides brief, refreshing commentaries.
Notable Books for Adults
Each year, the Notable Books Council, a division of the American Library Association, selects 25 “very good, very readable, and at times very important” fiction, nonfiction and poetry books. This website provides access to the current year’s choices, including a brief synopsis of each title, as well as archived lists dating back to 1993.
Postcolonial Web
It focuses on literature in English written by authors from nations of the Empire ruled by Queen Victoria with sections on each of the areas around the globe that made up that empire. It includes essays about the nation and/or regions history, politics and geography as well as literature and the other arts.
Project Gutenberg
Project Gutenberg, the Internet’s oldest and largest collection of free electronic books, has thousands of classics from the early 20th century on back. Works from authors like Shakespeare and Poe and old favorites, such as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, may be freely downloaded and read.
Read North Carolina Novels
Created by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, it has links to novels set in North Carolina by author, geographic region, and county. It also provides a list of fictional towns. The site even lists North Carolina novels that are part of a series.
Today in Literature
This site spotlights literary events that occurred on that date in history. This site also has a wealth of information about authors.
