McCullough, David G.(1992) Truman
A book I have read that I would highly recommend to the young people of our country is Truman written by Pulitzer Prize winning author, David McCullough. President Harry S. Truman has long been the President that I most admire. His life is one of the greatest American stories and David McCullough's powerful novel portrays Truman's rise from the Missouri frontier to leader of the free world. When he took office, upon the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, he assumed an enormous responsibility. It was a difficult period in the history of our country. He led us out of the catastrophic World War II and was instrumental in bringing about the healing of our nation after the death of a beloved President. President Truman is remembered as one of America's most courageous and dignified leaders. Truman offers a wealth of information about this honorable man who rose to the unprecedented challenge that was delegated to him and about a very significant period in America's history. The events in this captivating biography demonstrate how the world is shaped by decisions made by individuals. It would be an invaluable resources for young and old alike.
