The Great Santini

One of my favorite books is The Great Santini, by Pat Conroy. In The Great Santini, Conroy draws from many of his own life experiences to create the Meecham family. The characters come alive in the rich southern landscape that Conroy describes. This is an excellent book that is enjoyable not only for its war stories and action, but for the relationships that develop as the Meecham family struggles to confront their own problems.
